There are two different types of outlines: a chronological and a non-chronological outline. Since you will be writing this document from the beginning to the end, the idea is to follow a logical process.A non-chronological outline goes in order from the beginning of the current paragraph through the end of the current paragraph. A good example of a non-chronological outline would be a junior college student who has decided to write about a particular event. You will know if this is the case because the events will appear in reverse order. For example, if the student is writing about the history of the United States from the founding of the country to the present day, you would write the article about how the U.S. was founded, followed by the end of the article where it talks about the founding of the country and finally to the present day.Make sure that your outline is very clear about what you are doing and the specific instructions that you are giving your readers. It's also important to write the outline in a way that will provide a consistent direction for your writing. The first paragraph should always contain information that will make your reader want to continue reading. This is also the first paragraph in your essay and most likely will contain the introductory sentence.Once you are finished writing your outline, read through it again and consider any changes that you may want to make. Of course, the first few paragraphs are important, but after that you want to write each section as you normally would. Remember, this is where your readers will be looking for the answers. So use this outline to get them ready for the real meat of your essay.
